Hashtag this or don’t hashtag that or what is a hashtag? In a video, social media, computer crazed, Youtube digital world you must keep up with the times to survive! I just posted three Youtube videos discussing vlogging anxiety. Many people question if this is real, but trust me it is! However, in today’s society it is essential you create videos of yourself. What? You might be saying, “Teena, you are crazy! I am doing just fine and I don’t have a vlogg or any type of video of myself.”
Negative or positive! It is the truth!!!! I am a new author and motivational speaker. My vision is to help people live with happy, loving, kind, caring relationships. However, it is essential for my new career to have videos or vlogs of me speaking, educating, or discussing my book. You might say oh well that’s okay for you, but that doesn’t mean I need a video! NOT TRUE!!!!
I have researched new careers for a multitude of people through my life coaching program and guess what not one, not even some health care facilities said oh just send me your resume and I will call you! Yes, the first step to applying is a good resume, but a video of yourself provides you with a better opportunity, to be first on the list, for an interview.
When speaking with top companies who are hiring professionals they said and I quote, “We have someone that looks at the prospect employee’s social media, videos, blog, vlog, anything we can to observe how he/she will fit in and positively contribute to our company.”
What is vlogging anxiety? It is when you will do ANYTHING to keep from posting a video. Not that you do not have important information to share, but you fear what people will say or you are not good enough. I mean there are entire shows poking fun at videos or the people in the videos. Therefore, this anxiety is real. Many of my friends do not believe I have anxiety of videoing myself. However, I Do!!!!!! I will create a video, watch it, critique my country accent or my hair, weight, what I say how I act. It can be really bad sometimes. But the SHOW MUST GO ON!!!!!!!
After years of training, classes, teaching and now a published author; I have found this videoing yourself to be essential and a vital key to success. Therefore, I utilize my three easy steps everyday. My plan is to overcome my fears and deplete the effects of the anxiety. I can literally speak and motivate or what I call PUMP YOU UP, to an audience of thousands of people. I have taken teams to the next level just by being high energy and motivational. It is who I am!!!! I love to take you where you are and lift you to where you want to be. HOWEVER, tell me to do the same on a video and well truthfully I freeze.
Three steps are: 1. Look for a topic. It can be a trending topic or something you are extremely passionate about. Research and write a small script of what you want to be the strong point of your video. 2. Watch other vloggers. Now with Facebook doing videos as well this is easy to do. Watch them and record yourself, watch you. Now, understand you will find a million reasons you should not create a video. However, you must just do it! NO you should not wait to lose that twenty pounds or thirty. If you have a zit, cover it. You can not change your entire appearance some things are just a part of you. For example: I poke fun at myself every video, but then I realize that is me and its all I have. 3. Final step…Post, Post, Post Post. Yes, if you suffer from video anxiety this can be the worst step or at least the most difficult. However, it is probably the only way to be successful at vlogging or landing your dream job.
Listen, I am not telling you this is easy. I am letting you know that you can do it! If I can you can! I follow these steps every time I post. In my last (yesterday 11-17-16) video I am fighting posting in the worst way. However, I knew if it didn’t get posted I would delete it and not continue helping others who suffer from the same problem. I truly do follow these steps each time. My goal is to post everyday. Sometimes it is easier if I create it walk away then post late at night. Just remember video blogging or vlogging anxiety is real! But you can and will either overcome or fight through it. I believe in you, so get out there and just do it! Take the plunge you have a story to tell.
