We don’t like you!! One Flamingo said to the other…

Freddy the Pink Flamingo was hanging out with his friends. They played games, cooked out, and laughed, all day long.

As Freddy was retrieving the hoola hoop from ring the neck of a Flamingo, he saw a gigantic moving truck pull in.

He ran back to his friends with great excitement screeching, “A new Flamingo is moving in! Hey! Hey! I just saw a moving truck and a new Flamingo is moving in!”

Frank, Fillip, Frances, and some of the other Flamingos gathered around Freddy to hear what he was so excited about! “Aren’t you all excited? I wonder if they like to cook out, play games…” Freddy questioned.

“Of course they will like everything we like, they are Pink Flamingos!” Frank commented, acting as if Freddy was silly for being so excited. “Come on let’s finish this game I am winning!” he continued.

But Freddy was too excited to meet his new neighbors!

He peeked through the small hole of the joining privacy fence, which was created by his best friend Flipper, before he moved out of town.

His right eye ball made a complete circle as he scanned the backyard. But not one sign of a new Flamingo, yet.

Until…as he began to turn around and sadly report I can’t see anyth…he was abruptly interupted by a gigantic gasp from his friends. He looked puzzled as to why they were all starring at him with a horrible look plastered on their beaks!

Freddy froze and felt like he was turning white.

Before he could sputter any words from his beak…he felt a shadow towering over him. He quickly rolled his eyes up, up, up and over his head.

“Aaaaaaaaaaa,” he began to scream and scream.

The different colored, too tall, odd shaped thingy, simply pulled her head back and slowly walked into the back door of her new home.

“What was that?” He asked.

Freddy’s friends surrounded him and everyone began to talk at once. In a chaotic Flamingo chatter.

Until…they heard a light tap, tap, tap on the gate of Freddy’s back yard.

All of the Pink Flamingos held their breath and became silent. As if the tap, tap, tap on the other side of the gate would ‘think’ no one was home.

Tap, tap, tap once again.

Finally, Freddy slowly unlocked the gate, peeked through the tiny crack and…

What did he find?

A neon green, beautiful, bright Flamingo just his size.

“Hello, I am Franky. May I come over to play, while my mommies unpack.”

Freddy was so excited that she was not the tall blue looking bird, he encountered on the other side of the fence that he replied with, “Of course come in and meet all my friends!”

Franky timidly walked through the gate, looked around, smiled and quietly introduced herself, “Hello, I am Freddy’s new neighbor, Franky.”

As Freddy danced back and forth, he grabbed a hot dog off the table and created a delicious plate of food for his new friend, he saw something happen, that was not too pleasing. 😔😢😢😔

Many of his friends were now in a group snickering and being quite rude to Franky.

Frank looked at Franky in a disgusting manner and asked,”Why is your skin Green? Yuk! And why is your name Franky if you are a GIRL?”😬😬😲😲

Several others chimed in as if they were in agreement with Frank. They all starred at poor little Franky anticipating her answer, as if she could come up with a decent answer, as to why she looks different.👽

But before Franky could answer the big, blue, thingy…peeking over the fence from earlier, yelled out, “Franky, Franky where are you?”

Franky with a sigh dropped her head and vanished behind the gate as fast as she had entered.

Freddy was mad! He ruffled his feathers and stomped his flimsy legs over to his other Pink Flamingo friends. “Why? Why were you mean to our new friend?”😠

Everyone acted like he was silly. Fillip stepped up and explained to Freddy. “We don’t like Franky.”

“Why?”

“Because, she is green!!!! And a girl.”

All of Freddy’s friends agreed this new neighbor, was not their friend.

Their squawks, filled with complaints, were quickly drowned out by music echoing from Franky’s yard.

All the boys rushed over to the peep hole in the privacy fence. Pink feathers were flying as they pushed and shoved to attempt to see where the music was coming from.

The big, blue, Flamingo who towered over the six foot privacy fence, hung her head over to calmly ask,”Would you like to come over?”

With their beaks pointing up really high, towards the sky, they shook their heads in perfect unison, Yes!

With their feathers ruffled as if they were taking flight, the boys took off running towards Franky’s back yard.

Freddy decided not to go because he was so mad at how rude his friends were. 😠😳

When the boys entered the gate their eyes almost popped out of their heads! Toys, a sand box, outside games, a swing set and at least ten other Flamingos. All GIRLS! And All different colors!💖💚💙💜💛

At first Ralph, Freddy’s best friend felt sad that Freddy didn’t come and began to turn around to beg him to join them.

Until, he spotted Franky slipping out the gate to go ask Freddy. Before she disappeared she paused, turned around and winked at Ralph. He smiled real big and went off to play in the sand box with Mabel the purple Flamingo.😉

To be continued…

What do you think Freddy said to Franky? Do you think he joined them or did he tell Franky all about how terrible his friends were?

What would you do? Have you ever judged someone by their outside appearance? I am sure we all have.

GPS, take me to _____?

Do you know what GPS stands for? I didn’t until I began to research for this post. However, I do know what this fabulous tool does! I can tell you how to navigate it, its many choices of routes and its main objective. But I could not share with you the actual meaning behind the acronym, until now.

For a directionally challenged person, a GPS is a lifesaver. Take me to the nearest grocery store, shopping, or restaurants. Maybe you know the specific address. Type it in and several possible routes will appear. Allowing you to have an entire plethora of choices.

Would you prefer the more scenic route? It may be 6 minutes longer, but it has more twists and turns. Or are you a straight to the point person? Then the freeway route is predicted to be a shorter time and more direct route.

One of the best parts of the GPS is its sense of determination. Although it provides you with a wide variety of routes to choose from, based on your needs. It has a determination to reach the destination regardless of any detours thrown in its path.

Have you ever used your GPS while trying to maneuver out of a subdivision? Then once you knew your way home you attempted to turn it off? It is crazy! The statement, “rerouting,” appears continuously.

What if we practiced this type of determination in our lives? We set the goal and every time a detour appears, we do not falter. Instead, we keep on ‘rerouting’ until our destination is complete. Then on to the next great adventure!

Don’t let the detours stop your journey. Find the delicious sweetness within the pit-stop and allow the detours to be a blessing. Cherish the opportunity to choose your preferred route and keep on moving towards the destination.

(Global Positioning Service is the meaning behind GPS)

May you be blessed on your journey, each and every day!
