There is no greater or less than, when it comes to you…

As ‘life’ seems to happen around us, many people like to compare stories or talk about the issues. However, there is no comparisons between your story and theirs.

Of course we are all connected and as humans, we can all FEEL empathy or sympathy depending on our similar incidents.

But…everyone has moments of being depressed, sad, hurt, lost and disappointed. I can remember the day, my son explained that pointing out all the reasons someone should be grateful, isn’t always the best feeling emotion for someone suffering. I questioned why or why not, it always seemed to work for me. Highlighting all the reasons I should be grateful, how blessed I am and so on.

Nick explained how sometimes those comments are more detrimental to the person.

That was several years ago and to be completely honest, I didn’t truly understand.

Now, I do!

You see we ALL have moments where life feels overwhelming, too much and disappointing. Those who their stories, are well known and inspire others, but also you and me.

As I wrote and rewrote my speech for the area contest @Earlybirdstoastmasterskc, the days seemed to be zooming by. Closer and closer, my excitement was building and the anticipation of all the exciting opportunities, this club has to offer, was assisting me in working up the best message, I had ever written! Ohhh, if you could only feel my radiating excitement.

Yet, day by day in LA we had to jump one hurdle and then twenty five more or maybe a hundred more! (Okay I am being a bit over dramatic, as Ashby says).

But it is true. I could whine and cry about every little speed bump thrown in front of us, but where would we be then? Instead let me share what I have learned.

This week I had to let go of my first speech competition. It was to be on Monday February 5th. There were no guarantees I would move on to the next level, because our club has intense competition, but I wanted to attempt it, in the worst kind of way!

I had prepared and practiced the entire road trip from Kansas to LA.

As the hurdles popped up, some one at a time, others it seemed like fifty at a time, I began to realize my excitement was about to he turned into disappointment! With all the issues about having Princeton, I quickly realized my trip would be delayed, forcing me to step down from the competition.

Now this may seem silly to anyone else, but I cried and cried! I was disappointed, sad, overwhelmed and a little bit selfish. Most of all I was torn! This was my baby girl and very dear to me granddog. But I also wanted to attempt this competition!

Then my lessons began!!! Everytime I would express my disappointing emotions someone would share on Facebook or tell me about a horrific event. For example in the past month we have lost loved ones to accidents, cancer, flu and suicides. I would cry for them or add to my prayer list.

Yes, my silly little issues seemed trivial after all of that. I have so much to be grateful for, I know that.

Then I realized Nick was correct. Pointing out or minimizing our own disappointments, by comparison, is not fair, to you.

My epiphany was EVERYONE, experiences their own depression and disappointments. And YOURS is just as important as the next one. Because we are all on our own journey and life happens whether we are striving to improve or not.

And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE…this is a key to helping others choose to feel all the emotions, yet not give up.

The key is to allow yourself to feel the negative emotion. Express your feelings of disappointment. (Allow this moment). Do not worry about feeling trivial compared to other people’s issues. I am Not saying dwell on it and/or illuminate the situation, but rather, ALLOW yourself to have a moment of tears.

It is okay!!! There is no greater and less than, when it comes to you and how you feel. Maybe if we begin to allow kids and adults to say, “I feel like giving up.”

We will have less severely depressed or suicides. When I was having a moment of ‘selfish disappointments’ it felt good to allow the sadness, for a moment. It forced me to find solutions, it allowed me to be human, and it reminded me how quickly ANYONE can give up.

It is time we begin to allow our younger generations to know we have all been there. We have all had struggles and let it out. All of it! Say it if you feel it. It’s okay.

No matter how trivial it may be to others. Your disappointments, moments of sadness or maybe your losses are not comparable to others! You are allowed to say it because believe it or not… EVERYONE experiences negative emotions.

My greatest hope is…this post will help one person to choose life. If you are not feeling so well about something, say it! And quit worrying about comparing apples, arangatans, and kale spinach. This is YOUR EXPERIENCE! No one elses!

How to…

I am asked on multiple occasions, how to become a paid writer. I am also asked, in massive amounts, by ‘how to’ gurus, to pay 5000 dollars or more, to learn ‘how to’ become a paid professional writer. Oh and they always throw in the AND…’how to’ earn millions of dollars, doing it. Therefore, I am writing my first ‘How to…’ blog posting and I hope you learn a great deal from this. Maybe you have an idea of expertise, you would like to share with the world. If so, let me know if this post helps you, by signing up for my blog, where you will read more fun, free, writings from a paid writer (and it’s free).

As we begin this exploration of becoming a writer or anything else we want to be, please allow me to give credit where it is do. My daughter and I were discussing YouTube videos, bloggers and entertainers on social media. In the past it was more about how much fun, funny, interesting, knowledgeable and so forth, people were. However, today it feels like everything is a up sell. “If you click here, watch this and begin to desire that, I will then sell you a program for you to learn more. I will tell you all the tricks, turns and hurdles, you will need to make to follow your dream.”

The more we discussed it the more we agreed. We wanted to learn, laugh and explore, but if you are planning on teaching us and expect monetary reward, then tell me ‘how you’ did it. For example: How to become a model, actress, millionaire, professional speaker, paid writer, YouTube, ect. Give us more details. Share with us the down moments, struggles and moments of AHA! When it all came together, how you felt and how you feel now. Provide us with real life stories to connect with. And then share your expertise, without any reward in mind.

Maybe we need more biographies demonstrating the struggles, down times, upswing, breaks…emotions of how devastated they felt, at one time. Yet, I am here now and successful. Therefore, thank you, Darion because you inspired this ‘How to’ blog post and hopefully it will inspire more talented people to share. (Can’t you feel the connection of joy when reading the inspiration of helping others, find and obtain their dreams?)

I remember, just like it was yesterday…As I close my eyes and reflect, I remember inhaling, filling my lungs to a level of expansion, like never before. I then exhaled almost blowing that old, heavy, clumpy word processor, off the make-shift desk. Eric had created it out of some old scrap wood. I had buried myself into this book. I only had two children, at the time and was still in my mid-twenties.

My job was hectic and tiring. There were nights, I would cry because I was so tired and would give up on my dream. However, it was finally done! My first book! Oh my emotions were similar to giving birth to a child. Exhilarating, relieved, painful but not as painful, exasperated and grateful. I sent it off to publishers, agents, I had several friends edit it, oh, it was going to be perfect. I even contemplated withdrawing from school, for education, because I knew this was my calling!

Don’t you remember me? The famous writer from Trimble County?

If you do know me? It is not from that ‘book’ I completed many years ago. To be honest I can’t even remember the title. Instead you would know me now from my educational, clown, balloon, entrepreneur, teacher, leader, professional motivator, coach, and maybe even as a writer.

You see, as my daughter and I were discussing the irritating ‘watch this, buy this and all your dreams will come true…’ we both realized we would enjoy knowing how they felt, both good and bad, what happened in the beginning or did you wake up one day, LIVING YOUR DREAM?

Therefore, as I allow you to have a sneak peek of my life, I am sending out the vibration for you to grab hold of and learn. This is for you to see how amazing it is to share the wealth, in your own way or knowledge of expertise.

Back to my journey of becoming a writer and yes, a monetary rewarded author. That first book became nothing more than a memory. It was a delightful story about a young child, who had been diagnosed with the dreadful disease, Cancer. The story line was based on my experience with our cousin, Kelcey. It was about healing, God, prayer and family. When we lost her, I can’t remember, but I think I threw the manuscript away. YES, after months and months of writing, editing and sending it out.

As for the numerous amounts of dollars I spent as well as hours of sending book proposals out, I had little to no feedback, from publishers or agents.

Needless to say, this dream was placed on the shelf for many years. I continued to pursue my education and later taught 8th grade and elementary age students for several years.

While teaching I would continuously work with students who were interested in writing. Writing books, stories, poetry, playbook, songs, you name it we incorporated it. Although, my speciality was Science, I found ways to explore my desire to write.

I would take classes on how to get started. Then incorporate the how to receive monetary reward. (I know this is an honesty blog, but I choose not to reveal the countless amount of money, spent on guides, how to video sets, and webinars. However, I will share with you this, “If you knew you and everyone else in my family would be shocked.”).

I don’t have any regrets! My journey has been magical and continues to amaze me on a daily basis. However, I didn’t always feel this way. Actually, I remember feeling depressed at times, disheartened, irritable and lost, in my on life. Sure I functioned as a normal human. For example: Get up go to work, be the best you can be, receive a paycheck (always knowing you weren’t doing it for the money, but it would be nice to be able to earn the amount deserved, per hours put in). I was a mommy, wife, teacher, entrepeneur, care taker, daughter, and the list goes on and on.

You see, I do remember times when I thought, “I am not going to make it!”

However, I did make it! Through every medical emergency, that we didn’t have insurance for. Every scrape, bruise, broken bones, painful moments; along with the laughter, triumphs, and accomplishments, both great and small. If you take the time to reflect and celebrate, you too, will remember the valleys. But you will also be grateful for every bump. And hopefully you will be filled with inspiring thoughts to re-find your dreams and begin. Before long, you will be sharing with me on the ‘how to’ be successful at whatever you, Love to do!

Stay tuned in, there is more to come on this ‘How to’ article, next posting 😀.

God Bless
